REVIEWS BY READERS Reader Excerpts from Barnes & Noble.com, Amazon.com, and other online bookstores. One of a kind - Get it!, September 12, 2006 I read this book on a whim...and tried most of her suggestions...mainly, eating slower at mealtime. It really worked. I am on my way to losing those pesky last 10 pounds. I have given up chips and other finger foods, because I tell myself "I know what those taste like..." I am also not telling people I am doing this, as Caryl suggests. This is the first program that addresses the behavioral issues. This a permanent solution. It makes sense... is easy to follow. Buy this book...you will not be sorry. The only thing you will need is a new wardrobe in a much smaller size. Thank you Caryl! Ehrlich's book is precisely the medicine you all need: recognize overeating as another addictive behavior, no different from smoking, drinking, obsessiveness, or being a workaholic. My favorite line: "if it’s not water, its food!" Now that obesity is reaching epidemic proportions, changing our thinking, feeling and behavior about food is the only pathway to healthy living. I recommend this book to everyone who is serious about losing weight and keeping it off - it's a tough lesson in self-love, but so worth the results. I have been dealing with an eating addiciton for ten years, and this book has finally given me the tools and the know-how to crack the addiction. I have lost twenty pounds and am at a weight I haven't seen since high school. This book is NOT a diet, it's a life-style change. For anyone that has tried every diet in the book, who eats for every reason under the sun except for being hungry, for anyone who feels out of control when it comes to food, BUY THIS BOOK. Follow Caryl's program and you see your body and your mind change in ways that you didn't think possible. I happened to read this book by chance (my wife had left it on the bedside table). It made sense, I followed it - fairly easy to do. In a reasonably short time, I went from 203 1/2 pounds to 191 1/2 pounds, where I've leveled out. A great book, it makes sense! Caryl Ehrlich's book is wonderful! After years of overeating and always feeling deprived, this book has showed me how to feel very satisfied with what I eat. I actually eat less and still feel more satisfied. The book is funny, insightful and packed with logical information. I highly recommend it. - Reviewed by Reader. I was a food addict. I never had a lot of weight to lose but struggled up and down for most of my life. After years of trying every new weight control fad I found this book. For the first time my overeating, my deprivation and my binging, all made sense to me. I was a food addict. When I knew what I was dealing with, it was easy to take the book's a.b.c. steps and do something about it. The book changed my habits but not the foods I eat. I lost weight eating real food in the real world and I'm keeping it off by modifying my behavior. Ms. Ehrlich's plan works because it is so flexible and no one even knows that I am doing anything special. By the way, I'm not perfect but if I get off track, I have the skills to recover so that the 2 pounds does not turn into 10 pounds. The book is very easy to read and follow. - Reviewed by Reader
I lost 30 pounds! I had been trying to lose weight for 20 years and finally did it with the Ehrlich Program. I have kept the weight off using this plan because it isn't a diet, just common sense eating, being mindful, and establishing good habits. - Reviewed by Reader. I can't believe it. For years I have tried every diet to lose 8 lbs. Nothing worked. A friend mentioned a book that dealt with losing weight through a behavioral approach. Needless to say, I HAD to read this. The book of course was Conquer Your Food Addiction. As you read it, you realize how sensible Caryl Ehrlich's program is. It's clear to follow, and by the end of the book, you're eating differently, and the best part, you're thinner. It really worked! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you This is the best weight loss book out there. One of the best weight control books I've read. Using suggestions from the book, I was in control of what I consumed inside and outside of my home. |
